Xcaret's luxury experience - La Casa de la Playa

At La Casa de la Playa, an entertaining evening of Mexican history comes with this beautiful upscale adults-only resort

La Casa de la Playa is the premium, boutique resort in the Xcaret family and their guests have full access to everything the complex offers!

Before we dive into the resort, let’s take a trip to the Xcaret Mexico park where, as a guest of La Casa de la Playa, you can book an exclusive one-hour behind-the-scenes private tour of the park’s signature show, Mexico Espectacular, that celebrates the history of Mexico.

You can spend the whole day at the eco-park and take advantage of the 50 attractions like natural adventures, cenotes tours, expeditions to archaeological sites, and artistic shows that celebrate the traditions and culture of Mexico.

Or hang out at La Casa de la Playa and show up for the evening tour and the Mexico Espectacular show. That's what we did.

The tour gives you background to the park and the show’s story and educates you about the details behind the authenticity you’ll see. You meet the costume designers, learn how the performers prepare and see the elaborate masks as they sit in blue light backstage.

The tour ends with a dramatic stage entrance before you’re brought to your seat of honor for the dinner show. Once the performance starts, you immediately feel like part of the show!

I had never thought about the history of Mexico.

The two-hour show tells the story of native customs and how they were impacted by the arrival of Christianity. Act 2 celebrates the different parts of Mexico and their traditions in music and dance. Really informative and fun.

And you see it all from the best seats in the house!

The exclusive tour and experience were recommended by our contacts at Xcaret. It’s a great example of how our travel network brings unique experiences to our clients.

Back home at all-inclusive La Casa de la Playa, there are multiple spaces to enjoy the water, sun, food and drinks. We loved the rooftop pool bar that accommodates about 20 people with an ocean view, comfy lounges and refreshing drinks. There’s even a live DJ who sets just the right vibe. We really liked Carlos and he created us a Spotify playlist as a memento of our visit.

In addition to the three gourmet restaurants (and you can also dine at any of the other Xcaret restaurants), other highlights include a 24/7 self-serve tequila/mezcal room, a take-what-you-want wine cellar featuring Mexican wines, and chocolate room where you can sample the fresh treats.

And the 70 suites are sure to delight – large spaces with personal dipping pools, hot tub, beautiful furniture made of rich woods and unique design features including a lighted jelly fish tank!

A trip to the rooftop spa will leave you relaxed and rejuvenated.

Nothing is crowded and your personal butler is at the other end of WhatsApp, ready to help you with recommendations, to secure reservations and transport you around Xcaret with complimentary private transfers, even to fill your hot tub so it’s ready when you are.

And it’s very private. You’d never know you’re right next door to the larger Xcaret Mexico and Xcaret Arte resorts. While you can easily enjoy their many restaurants and entertainment, at your resort, you don’t see or hear them.

Check it out

Bottom Line: La Casa de la Playa is an upscale property with a premium price. But if you’d like a quiet way to have the Xcaret experience, it’s a great option for a special holiday for couples and small groups of friends. And it’s all available via a short flight to the Cancun International Airport.

Up next: We spent our last night in pure luxury at Belmond’s newly renovated Maroma that’s getting lots of buzz. Come back next week to learn more!
